Its sturdy ladder frame and galvanized steel body are hand-welded. The frame is flowed with hot wax to resist corrosion. Even its wiring harnesses are hand-loomed. As you make your way off-road, three sequentially lockable differentials offer increasingly masterful capability. Each differential can be locked in sequence (center, rear, then front) via a set of buttons on the dash, to help maintain the ideal balance of torque and traction for the situation.

New attitude at any latitude.

Lighter and more efficient yet with greater power and torque, a new 4.0-liter biturbo V-8 powers the 2016 G550. Generating 416 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, it can thrust the G550 from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds. A "hot inside V" turbo layout, low-friction design and new ECO Start/Stop system enhance elevate both and fuel economy.

The standard G-Class permanent all-wheel drive system continually sends power to all four wheels. Its 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS®) instantly apportions torque to the wheels that can use it best, for surefooted grip on snowy and wet roads. Off-road, its locking differentials help you conquer muddy, loose or uneven terrain.

There's only one handcrafted SUV with handcrafted power. Make that two: the 563-hp V-8 AMG G63 and new 621-hp V-12 AMG G65, the most powerful SUV in production. A single master craftsman hand-builds each bi-turbo engine. It's then teamed with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT® PLUS 7-speed and 20- or 21-inch AMG® wheels, and presented to you in exquisite luxury.
